The Angry Sea
A storm is distant from the shore
But waters rise to flood the beach
The Angry Sea is determined to clean
All that litters its shore

Bead That As It May
For each new day after the storm
With restoration here at hand
We party still at Mardi Gras
And any other parades we can
Bead that as it may

Faces in Glass
Faces in glass of sadness speak
The tales of many who’ve passed
A disease that spreads without cause
Or pause or gender keeps
This monument is a reminder
Of people loved and lost

Have
you seen My Dog?
Have you seen my dog?
He was here before the storm.
You rescued him from drowning;
Katrina tried to take.
We barely escaped ourselves
Our dog was left behind.
The fears for his life have been
resolved
Thanks to your markings on our wall.
New Orleans will never forget
The Storm The rescues The restoration

Knock, Knock
Knock; knock the sound echoed from
the heavy wood door
Take heed the warning from the mighty
ram-man of yore
He watches your every move as you
knock-knock on my door
Is he the devil himself or just there
to scare you ever-more?

On
the Fence
On the fence the flowers climb,
Seen from the outside looking in
Are flowers there to decorate the
fence?
Or is the fence just there for the
flowers to grow?

Park
A morning stroll led to this park
Where birds and squirrels did play
We paused to enjoy the rhythms of
earth
On this cloudy and dreary day

Up the Staircase
Up the staircase you are welcome to
visit
Or stop to admire the flowers trailing
Summer’s heat after a storm
Takes its toll on potted plants
Giving cause to geraniums failing

Waiting for Their Ride
Southern storm on the streets of NOLA
Watering the plants and washing the
streets
Sisters wait for their ride to come
To save their shoes from the drenching
rain
The city rests from its night of party
And the music plays on

Waiting for you to sit
Take a seat under the shade of the
palm
These chairs are waiting for you to
remit
Take a moment to nap if you’d like
While you wait, go ahead and sit
Your table will be ready in a minute
or two
So you may as well rest a bit
